WEFTA Circuit Rider José has been busy working with community work groups on the Quebrada Pastor aqueduct system in the Bocas del Toro region of Panama. The two spring sources for the system have been completely renovated providing more secure water flows. A new water storage tank was constructed to provide valuable storage for the water system, and plans were made to construct structural bridges for the transmission line over two large stream crossings. The remaining materials for the transmission line and the community distribution system are onsite and the community is working to dig the trenching for the system piping.
Longtime partners of Waterlines and WEFTA, Father Robert and Nicolás, were able to view the unfolding project during a visit to the community in June for a short project assessment trip. In the coming weeks, the community will begin the final phase of building the distribution system.
