The WEFTA team is on the ground in Panama checking in on the status of current and completed projects.
On their journey, WEFTA volunteers, Greg, Tim, and Fr. Roberto attended the inauguration of the water system improvements for the connected communities of Alto Ciénaga and Llano Majagua. Water system improvements for these communities, located on the Pacific side of the Comarca Ngäbe-Bugle, were completed in 2023 in collaboration with our in-country partner, Nicolás. The project included improved spring captures for both communities along with the installation of a water tank, chlorinator, and replacement of transmission and distribution piping. The project also included training for the water committee and operator in their functions, bringing greater sustainability to the project lifespan.
